There are currently no upcoming classes – but there are some themed/event classes in the works for this fall, so keep checking back!
Hi there, so glad you found us! We’re Rise, a small collection of teachers specializing in yoga, pilates, mindfulness and more. We started up the Summer of 2018 offering introductory, affordable classes at Bow Market in Union Square (1 Bow Market Way, in the courtyard).
This Fall and Winter we’ll be offering more specialized/themed classes, still focusing on being introductory and approachable. The best way to keep up with our updates and be notified of upcoming events is on Instagram and by subscribing to our emails (we promise no more than 1 every week/couple of weeks)
Kat discovered and became more immersed in yoga while living in Charlottesville, Va. She started working as a work study at a local studio, Opal Yoga, and gained a better understanding and practice of self care and mindfulness. After a number of life moves and career shifts, she ended up in Cambridge and wanted to respark the role of yoga in her life. She completed her 200hr yoga certification in early 2017 and started teaching in the fall. She noticed that her friends and family still had preconceptions of yoga and faced a number of barriers holding them back from giving yoga a try – they didn’t know what the poses were, they thought they weren’t young enough, they felt conscious etc. Determined to share yoga with others she sparked conversations with other teachers and the concept of RISE, yoga and mindfulness for all, was born!

Taylor began taking yoga classes at a young age, but quickly became occupied with school and sports. As life happened she struggled to find the time for yoga, even when she probably needed it the most. Then, after living four years in LA, she arrived to a Boston winter and found herself in heated yoga classes seeking warmth, both literally and figuratively, as well as a community. Through yoga she has discovered the importance of self care and mindfulness and hopes to bring the same sense of comfort and empowerment to her classes that she has felt during her journey with yoga.

Amy’s introduction to Pilates began several years ago while training for a half marathon. As a former competitive gymnast, she was looking for a form of exercise that demanded the mind/body connection that gymnastics provided for many years. Amy quickly found that when performed correctly through body alignment and precise movement, Pilates could be extremely challenging and equally soothing to the body and mind.
Enthusiastic about working with people from all different backgrounds and abilities, Amy truly believes a Pilates program can benefit each person physically and mentally. Her own practice has been an outlet for pain and stress relief from many work days sitting at a desk. She is excited to introduce it as a compliment to any fitness regimen.
Outside of teaching, Amy is an avid runner, rock climber, and paddle boarder. In the summer months, you can find her outside on the water. Amy holds a degree in Kinesiology and Sports Management from James Madison University and she is Polestar Pilates, certified instructor.

After making Boston her home 2 years ago, she finally decided to complete yoga teacher training. Teaching in a community like Somerville made Rachael realizes she could do more. Most recently, she cofounded a collective, @yougoodsis , to foster a wellness community for black and brown women in the Greater Boston area.
