Kat discovered and became more immersed in yoga while living in Charlottesville, Va. She started working as a work study at a local studio, Opal Yoga, and gained a better understanding and practice of self care and mindfulness. After a number of life moves and career shifts, she ended up in Cambridge and wanted to respark the role of yoga in her life. She completed her 200hr yoga certification in early 2017 and started teaching in the fall. She noticed that her friends and family still had preconceptions of yoga and faced a number of barriers holding them back from giving yoga a try – they didn’t know what the poses were, they thought they weren’t young enough, they felt conscious etc. Determined to share yoga with others she sparked conversations with other teachers and the concept of RISE, yoga and mindfulness for all, was born!
